What is the St Francis Heartsease Parish Visiting Service?

The Parish Visiting Service seeks to provide whole person care for people in the parish through a local church community team.

We offer support to people in times of need, whether short or long term and through meetings either at the church or via home visits.

We provide a listening ear and help with signposting people to services which may be able to help them further.

We also aim to provide support and assistance for those who might be going through a difficult time for any reason e.g. illness, stress, relationship breakdown and bereavement.

We can offer spiritual support and help for those who would like it.

The service provides a form of church based pastoral care and health ministry.

Who is the service for?

The service is open to all those aged over 18 from all backgrounds and those of all faiths and none, who live in Heartsease. It is provided free of charge.

We are happy to take self-referrals from an individual, or a referral from another organisation, providing the person has given their consent for their details to be passed on to us. We aim to provide care for the whole person and believe that the physical, social, mental and spiritual needs of a person are closely linked.

We can make home visits, or can meet people in the Heartsease Hive or the church building. We visit people on Wednesdays, but there is an answer phone service if you would like to leave a message for the team. The service is provided to anyone free of charge by a team of people based at the church.   All members have a current Disclosure and Barring Service check.   We work on an entirely voluntary basis.  Grant funding and donations pay for training and expenses.

Members of the team are in regular contact with each other and are offered the opportunities to attend training and study days relevant to their work.
